Informative Speech Reminders

These are some notes that were discussed in class...Keep these in mind.

- Stay away from persuasive tendencies.

- Do not tell the audience what they should do...
- Do not try and convince the audience of something...
- Do not give your opinion, this is a persuasive technique...

- Do state the facts!!!

- Orally cite your sources as well as in your bibliography ("According to ...")
- Cite any visual sources as well if you have them (ex: images, pictures etc.)

- If you do an interview, include a paragraph summary at the end of the outline
Include the name of your interviewee, their position, their relevance to your speech, and brief
summary of questions and answers.
- If you do a survey, include a paragraph summary at the end of the outline
Include the number of participants, the demographic (who are they? college students,
friends, general pop., etc. and where you conducted speech), and a brief summary of questions
and answers.

Lastly, stay simple and practice to make sure you are good on time.

I will discuss the panel format on Tuesday. There is no preparation for "chairs" and "moderators"!!
